Psychiatrists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) and Advanced Practice Clinical Nurses Specialists
Psychiatrists are mental health providers who are medical doctors (MD) or doctors of osteopathy (DO). Our psychiatrists provide medication management as well as brief counseling in addition to medication management. Patients who require additional therapy are referred to a therapist.
Licensed Professional Counselors are specifically trained to provide mental health counseling services to individuals, couples, families and groups. Graduate degrees in counseling are required along with required internships and the passing of a national licensing exam to ensure that a basic foundation of psychological knowledge has been learned.
Licensed Clinical Social Workers have training in providing counseling services to individuals, couples, families and groups. Graduate degrees are required along with internships and national licensing exams to ensure an optimal standard of psychological knowledge.
Advance Practice Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS) is an advanced nursing practitioner who participates in the care of adults, adolescents, and children with mental health-related problems. The APN works with a physician to meet the patient’s treatment plan.
